Partners for World Health (PWH) is a non-profit organization that aims
to address global health disparities by providing medical supplies and
equipment to underserved communities around the world. Their
primary goal is to improve access to healthcare and support sustainable
healthcare systems in areas that lack adequate resources.

PWH works in close collaboration with Rotary Clubs, which are
community-based organizations dedicated to service projects and
humanitarian efforts. The relationship between PWH and Rotary Club is
mutually beneficial as they share common objectives and values. Rotary
Clubs often provide financial support, professional expertise, and
volunteer manpower to assist PWH in their mission.

The collaboration between PWH and Rotary Clubs strengthens the
reach and impact of both organizations, allowing them to deliver life-
saving resources and support to those in need. Their shared vision and
commitment to global health equity make them valuable partners in
shaping a healthier and more sustainable world.

Herrick-Gleason is Director of the Southworth Planetarium, University of Southern Maine, in Portland. He is an astronomer and scientist.  His talk "Astronomy a la Carte" will focus on the upcoming Solar Eclipse arriving in Maine this Spring.

Appointed Executive Director in 2021, Angie has worked for the Chamber since 2015.  She will share some of the new initiatives of the Chamber and we'll discuss how we might work together.

Diane Madden has been the Executive Director of the Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine (CRCWM) for five years. She worked for MaineHealth for 35 years,  including 20 years in Oncology, and 10 years as the director of the Raising Readers program, a health and literacy program for children. She received her Masters in Business Administration from Husson College, and published her first children's book in 2023. Diane lives in Harrison with her husband, Ed.

CRC of WM is dedicated to supporting individuals affected by cancer through a caring community, providing resources, education, and wellness services. They offer one-on-one support, cancer resource navigation, wellness programs, support groups, complementary therapy, travel and food assistance, and various comfort items—all free of charge to those impacted by cancer. Diane’s leadership has been instrumental in ensuring that nobody faces cancer alone. Diane received the prestigious “Patricia Weigel Pay It Forward Award” from Norway Savings Bank. This annual award, created in honor of former CEO Pat Weigel, recognizes organizations making a positive impact in the community. The CRCofWM received a $10,000 grant to continue their mission of supporting cancer patients and their loved ones.

Edward Herrick-Gleason is the Director of Southworth Planetarium. He is speaking on the upcoming solar eclipse (April 8, 2024). The public is welcome. The special glasses to observe the eclipse will available ($2.00 a pair). 

At the MAGIC LANTERN INNOVATION CENTER- 9 DEPOT ST., BRIDGTON

Edward Herrick-Gleason is the University of Southern Maine's Southworth Planetarium Director, Portland Campus. Edward is an astronomer and scientist. His talk "Astronomy a la Carte" will focus on the upcoming Solar Eclipse arriving in Maine April 8, 2024.

The Rotary is selling glasses to view the eclipse at $2.00 a piece. 

On Thursday, March 7^th Deborah Condello, Community Outreach Coordinator at the Southern Maine Agency on Aging will speak to local Rotarians and friends.  The meeting will be from 7:30-8:30 a.m. at Stella’s on the Square, 6 North High Street in Bridgton.  Deborah works in partnerships with communities in Cumberland and York counties, responds to program inquiries and more. She is eager to share a brief overview of the agency’s services, but is most interested in gauging needs and interests of the elderly in the Bridgton community. The Agency has been around for over 50 years.

President John Eliassen remarked “Bridgton-Lake Region Rotary Club is pleased to offer this presentation and welcome others in the community to join us.  The event is free. Coffee will be served.”

Matt holds numerous national level certifications and courses. He has been taught be some of the best minds in the fitness industry, including Precision Nutrition, National Academy of Sports Medicine, and Postural Restoration Institute. Inspired by the vision of MEH and Justin and Bernadette McIver Matt decided to join Soleful Health Club in Bridgton over a year ago and has focused on improving the health and wellness of the community. Matt is really excited to present Soleful's vision of health and fitness including anti-aging and stress reduction for the Bridgton community.

ROTARY CLUB SPEAKER IS JOANNA MOORE OF CROSSWALK COMMUNITY OUTREACH.

The Bridgton-Lake Region Rotary Club is pleased to welcome Joanna Moore, Founder and Board Member of Crosswalk Community Outreach in Naples, as speaker on Thursday, May 9, at 7:30 a.m. at Stella’s on the Square in Bridgton.

Crosswalk was founded in 2009 and has served the Lake Region community for more than 15 years.  Moore was Director of Crosswalk for over 12 years.  She currently serves as Chaplain, Community Health Worker, and Board Member of the organization. Today Crosswalk has 35 volunteers.  Among those they serve are local seniors, disabled veterans, the homeless, and those seeking clothing, meals, emergency fuel, and friendship.

Moore’s presentation will be on Valuing our Veterans.

The meeting is free and open to the public. Coffee will be served.
