THURS, JAN 20, 2022, 7:30 AM VIA ZOOM
Bridgton-Lake Region Rotary Club
SPEAKER: Gregg Dowty, Ed. D., Rotarian, Rotary Club of Dover, NH, Rotary District 7780 Protection Officer
THE EFFECT OF ADVERSE CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCES (ACEs) ON HUMAN DEVELOPMENT & HEALTH CHALLENGES.
Gregg spent his entire career working with children, many coming from a background of adversity. He spent several decades working in central Maine. The study of ACEs has found that early adversity increases physical, mental and behavioral problems later in life. Our early experiences contribute to who we become, the health problems we may encounter in the future and the decisions we make later in life. This presentation will focus on adverse childhood experiences, the potential impact on development, long term consequences of stress and adversity and its impact on brain development. The Rotary Club is meeting virtually in January 2022.
